Appointment Costs & Medicare Rebates

If you have a valid Medicare card, you may be eligible for a rebate for your appointment. If you have reached your annual safety net, your rebate amount may be increased. 

Please note, you must be within Australia at the time of your appointment to be eligible for a medicare rebate.

Medicare provides the maximum rebate for a new psychiatrist appointment once a year, a follow up appointment within 12 months will receive a lower rebate.

Cancellations within 2 days incur a $300 fee, which will be added to your next booking.

Medicare rebates are generally higher when your referral comes from a GP, compared to a specialist (for example, a fertility specialist).

A GP referral is valid for 12 months, whilst a specialist referral is only valid for 3 months.

Your suburb and postcode determine if you’re eligible for the Rural Rebate. You can check your address on the Resource Locator. If the Modified Monash Model classification is not MM1, you’re considered rural.
