IVF Rebate Means Tested

We have been reviewing the recent changes to the Fertility Treatment Rebate Program and felt they are worth a post. The program is administered by Service NSW and NSW Health and is part of the NSW Affordable IVF Initiative.

Effectively, the new Fertility Treatment Rebate – 2 Program commences on 11 March 2025, however, the ability to access the $2000 will now be means tested. To be eligible, the annual household income must be $116,000 or less. Additionally, the treatment needs to be scheduled on or after 19 February 2025.

There is a lot to unpick with this news, however, the first point to focus on is that if you want to apply under the existing program, applications must be submitted by 4 March 2025. You can only apply if you received an eligible fertility treatment between 1 October 2022 and 18 February 2025 and meet all other eligibility criteria.
