Dr Vanessa Rogers grew up in Australia, spending several extended periods of time overseas. She has travelled widely and as a medical student did clinical placements in both Tonga and Vietnam.
She obtained her undergraduate arts degree majoring in psychology and sociology at The University of NSW. Dr Rogers then trained in medicine at The University of Sydney, graduating in 2003. She spent three years working in a general hospital setting before pursuing a specialization in psychiatry. She became a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry in 2011.
Dr Rogers has spent much of her career working in consultation-liaison psychiatry, a branch of psychiatry that specializes in the interface between general medicine and psychiatry. She did her Fellowship year working alongside the Severe Burns Unit at The Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH), in Sydney. Dr Rogers has a special interest in transplant psychiatry and has years of experience with telehealth in this field.
Dr Rogers has held a staff specialist position at RNSH since 2011. She has also worked in a range of rural and remote settings and is a part-time member of the NSW Mental Health Review Tribunal. Dr Rogers is involved in medical student teaching and volunteers as a councillor for the Medical Benevolent Association of NSW.
Dr Rogers has an appreciation of the unique challenges that are faced throughout the fertility, IVF, and perinatal journey. She approaches her clinical work with compassion and understanding.
